Facing another season with questionable defenders, Tottenham Hotspurs recently completed the signing of Sebastien Bassong from Newcastle.  According to reports out of Newcastle, Bassong had already passed a medical and agreed to personal terms with the North London team.

Bassong who was one of the few bright spots in a rather dismal Newcastle season which saw them relegated.  Bassong was one of the players expected to be traded once the team got relegated as Newcastle management seek to put themselves in a position for a sale and look to clear a huge chunk of their salary obligations to look more attractive to buyers.

A statement by Tottenham said, "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Newcastle United for the transfer of Sebastien Bassong to the club, following the player successfully completing a medical examination and agreeing personal terms."

The 23-year old defender will start the beginning of next season with his new team on the bench as he picked up a two game suspension due to a red card on the last game of the season against Fulham.
