Nigerian striker Kanu has signed a one month deal with Portsmouth in a deal which is believed to be a placeholder until the team resolves their future. There have have been serious negotiations between Portsmouth management and Dubai property developer Sulaiman al-Fahim for about three months and the team, which is financially strapped will not be able to make any long term deals with any player until the club's financial future is resolved.
The signing gives manager Paul Hart more options at the strike position after they lost Peter Crouch to Tottenham in the offseason. The team were very keen to re-sign the Nigerian who scored the winning goal in Portsmouth victory over Cardiff at Wembley last year. During his tenure at Portsmouth, kanu has scored 21 goals in 94 appearances. In an interview with the Mirror, Kanu said, "All I know is that we are not going to go into relegation as we still have the kind of players that can keep us afloat. Most times you do not need the big names to perform, all you need is a good manager that knows how to manage what he has. |
