The Hosts bounce back from the Mali collapse to see off the Flames and go top of the group. Flavio scored this third goal of this Nations Cup and Manucho added to the tally shortly after to propel the Palancas Negras to victory. The Angolans looked eager to shake off the disappointment of the late collapse and created a chance early when Manucho’s shot was saved by Malawian keeper Swadic Sanudi and minutes later Sanudi beat Manucho to a superb cross from Angolan winger Mabinda. Angola finally opened the scoring when Flavio nodded a cross from Djalma in the net, five minutes later Manucho capitalized on a mistake by Malawi captian Peter Mponda and beat Sanudi to add a second. This time Angola were able to hold on to their lead and go to the top of the group Despite the defeat Malawi remain second in the group and can ensure a place in the round of eight by defeating Mali in their next match. |
