Burkina Faso became the third African country to be docked World Cup qualifying points as FIFA clamps down on eligibility.

FIFA awarded Congo a 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso, the sides drew 0-0 in June but FIFA ruled that Burkina Faso fielded Herve Zengue, a Cameroonian born defender who the stallions continued to use despite questions over his eligibility to represent the West African nation.

"The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided that the Burkina Faso FA has breached the disciplinary code on ineligibility," read a statement, adding the decision is subject to appeal and is not "final and binding."

"The match Burkina Faso v Congo of 2 June 2012 is declared to be lost by forfeit (0-3) by Burkina Faso, and the Burkina Faso FA have been fined 6,000 Swiss francs ($6,500)."

Nambia had filed a complaint over Zengue eligibility after he

Namibia protested year that Burkina Faso's use of Zengue in two 2012 African Nations Cup qualifying matches breached rules on player eligibility.

They sought to be awarded the points from the games, which would have qualified them for the finals instead, but their protest was unsuccessful and appeal at CAF and a bid for redress to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

FIFA also sanctioned Gabon for fielding defender Charly Moussono, who had represented Cameroon at the Beach Soccer World Cup. CAF allowed Gabon to use Moussono at the last Nations Cup.

Sudan also forfeited points after FIFA ruled they fielded a suspended player against Zambia.
